Boats in the pits

Yalta 2010Tuesday 4 May 2010 all boats were in the dry pits waiting to race this weekend. It’s a great sight to see the cranes and the powerboats aligned. It’s also very impressive to see the boats in the air as they are lifted from their trailers. See some pictures of Jean-Marie Van Lancker and Emilio Carabelli below.

Tests will be run on and out of the water to finetune the engines and check the systems. Weather forecasts are looking good. Yalta has temperatures between 12 and 16-18 degrees Celsius. Nice to race for the evolution class because it can get very hot in the cockpit. For the supersport boats it will be another story because they race in open air and at speeds of about 85 mph it feels like freezing. But all pilots are well prepared and determined to give all they’ve got. And if we’re lucky we can catch some racing thanks to this webcam.
