Finally we got hold of the Salerno results. Read below how the teams performed. The charts are dominated by the Naples based Karelpiu RG87. They’ve built there open Fountain powerboat into an impressive V1 Mercuy powered rocket with a canopy. They’re really all over the other teams. Chaudron’s blazing own built Maltese powerboat holds first place in the standings together with the Italian team RG87. They will have to use every horse power of their engines to stay ahead of the Italian team. Seems like the German team Searex is facing technical problems. Abu Dhabi and RG 87 Karelpiu rule in Salerno
Federico Montanari and GiuseppeSchiano in RG87 Karelpiu were the pick of the V1 line-up, qualifying in pole and taking full advantage to win from World Champions Aaron Chiantar and Dominique Martini in Chaudron, with Siegfried Greve and Udo Goss in Searex Baltec completing the podium, Bernico New Star coming home in fourth. Team Abu Dhabi 6 made the perfect start to their 2015 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship title challenge finishing first and second overall yesterday in the first of two races held in conjunction with the seventh leg of the Venice-Monte Carlo race in Salerno, Italy.

In Salerno only C1 powerboats will race on a race course. The V1 powerboats will race from Salerno to Formia on July 9th (see the programme below). The previous leg for the V1 powerboats was a page to skip since most of the powerboats didn’t make it except for the Bernico 43 Leverage. The powerboating team of Nico Bertels took first place. This V1 race is a home game for the Napoli based powerboating team Karelpiu. For Class One (C1) this is the kick-off for the new season. (more…)
