Rounds 9 and 10 of the UIM 2010 World Championship Grand Prix of the sea are hours away. Siracusa is the arena for the final and closing rounds of the World Championship. On Sunday we will have the nex World Champions in Supersport and Evolution. The powerpole on Friday determines the starting positions for the rounds 9 (Sprint race) and 10 (Endurance race).
On Saturday there is the Sprint race and on Sunday the Endurance race. Racing is done in two classes: the Supersport and the Evolution Class. Teams in the first class race in “regular” poduction powerboats and have a speed limit. In the Evolution Class “anything” is possible as long as it’s within the rules and safety regulations. All the powerboats in both classes get scruteneered thouroughly before they are allowed to race. Below you’ll find the exact race courses but first we give you the time schedule*.

Powerpole
This course will be run in clockwise direction. Distance is 4.73 Nm (8,759 km).
Sprint race
SuperSport: start lap + 8 laps giving a total race length of 41.98 Nm (77,746 km). Evolution: start lap + 9 laps giving a total race length of 46.71 Nm (86.506 km). The race will be run in a clockwise direction.
Endurance
SuperSport: start lap + 14 laps giving a total lenght of 70.36 Nm (130.306 km). Evolution: start lap + 15 laps giving a total race length of 75.09 Nm ( 139.066 km). The race will be held in a clockwise direction.
In the event of adverse conditions, a storm course will be run over a reduced number of laps – exact distance to be advised at the briefing.
