Feast your eyes on the brand new DIEMAX V12
Diesel, 6 liter, 600 hp, 350 kg (772 lbs), 12 cylinders. There you have it! Impressive numbers, isn’t it. Especially the weight is cool. They started off with 2 BMW V6 engines and then designed this black and orange beast. The block is made of aluminum hence the gain in weight which will be very welcomed by powerboaters. lmor Marine celebrates its 1000th marine engine
May 26, 2011: Ilmor Marine, LLC marked the production of its 1,000th marine engine with a celebration at its Mooresville, NC headquarters. The 1,000th engine – a MV8 6.2L – is manufactured at the Mooresville location. Ilmor Marine, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ilmor Engineering, Inc, and operates in a state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot marine engine assembly and test facility open since July 2010. The plant manufactures Ilmor’s new series of inboard GM-based marine V8 (MV8) engines, and is capable of assembling up to 15,000 engines per year. Ilmor Marine is currently the primary engine supplier to MasterCraft Boat Company, its principal boat manufacturing partner. (more…)
Verado 350 SCi
Deze Verado 350 SCi is een 2,6 liter die het beste van twee werelden verenigt: de intelligentie van de Verado en de racekracht van de Mercury. Hiermee zijn er nu twee outboards op de markt die elkaar evenaren in de wedren om de pk’s. Yamaha’s F350 was eerst en sloeg iedereen met verstomming: pure power. Mercury Verado’s 350 SCi is eerder gebouwd voor snelheid. Tijdens de 3 jaar durende ontwikkelingsperiode werd veel aandacht besteed aan het blok: stijvere cilinderkop, slijtvastere uitlaatkleppen, nieuwe inlaat en uitlaatkleptiming en slijtvastere zuigers. De supercharger is dezelfde als de ‘standaard’ Verado maar met de nodige aanpassingen die resulteren in een hogere turbodruk.
ILMOR’s krachtpatsers
Ilmor binnenboordmotoren staan voor performance, reliability en beauty. Dit Brits bedrijf verdiende de sporen in de autorace wereld. Vrij recent, in 2002 om precies te zijn, bouwden ze hun eerste ‘marine’ motor voor een 32 voet Skater catamaren: de V10 Viper. Enkele jaren later hebben ze de 550 pk zware ‘MV-10 550’ en een jaar later in 2005 ziet de MV-10 625 het levenslicht. In 2006 is er het paradepaartje de MV-10 710.
