May 26, 2011: Ilmor Marine, LLC marked the production of its 1,000th marine engine with a celebration at its Mooresville, NC headquarters. The 1,000th engine – a MV8 6.2L – is manufactured at the Mooresville location. Ilmor Marine, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ilmor Engineering, Inc, and operates in a state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot marine engine assembly and test facility open since July 2010. The plant manufactures Ilmor’s new series of inboard GM-based marine V8 (MV8) engines, and is capable of assembling up to 15,000 engines per year. Ilmor Marine is currently the primary engine supplier to MasterCraft Boat Company, its principal boat manufacturing partner.
Ilmor has over twenty years of Indy-winning engineering history, as well as nearly a decade of performance powerboat drivetrain production. It is this experience which has led to the design, development and successful manufacture of the Ilmor Marine MV8 engine series. Ideally suited for competitive water sports and recreational boating, Ilmor MV8 engines are built to the same stringent engineering standards as the company’s world-renowned high-performance engines. The MV8 engines are offered in 5.7L, 6.0L and 6.2L variants, each based upon industry standard General Motors powerplants. All MV8 engines utilize Ilmor-developed parts and systems designed to increase overall performance and reliability, and are available in both fresh water and salt water ‘Ocean Performance Series’. Additionally, the engines are EPA, California-ARB and EU-RCD emissions compliant.
“Today marks a very special moment in Ilmor’s history,” says Ronald A. Brown, President of Ilmor Marine. “In the last year, we have successfully overcome the challenging tasks of opening a new business and creating jobs in a difficult economy. By completing the 1,000th engine, we have also achieved a new high in commercial production. We are proud to demonstrate our long-term commitment to the town of Mooresville, to the marine industry, and to our customers around the world.”
