The #57 Centaurian Yachts team scored their best finish of the 2008 season in today?s Evolution class Sprint race of the Vigo Grand Prix of the Sea, coming in third behind the #69 Honeyparty.com and #99 Fountain Worldwide 1st4boats.com teams. The Belgian outfit has struggled for both reliability and speed in the first half of the year, but clearly seems to have overcome its problems during the summer break. Despite having a slow start to the Sprint race and dropping to the back of the pack, the team of long-time powerboat enthusiast Nico Huybens surged through the field to finish a comfortable third; the first podium finish the outfit has scored this year.
It’s absolutely fantastic to have scored our best result of the year, said crew member Pierre Colpin. We’ve finally found the solution to the problems with the boat. As a result, it’s really working well and, although we’re still struggling a bit for acceleration out of the corners, but we’ve got great top speed.
