Raffaele Chiulli was confirmed as president of the UIM, the world federation of powerboating. His reelection was the reward for the development and innovation policies implemented over the last presidential mandate. A renowned manager from the international energy industry, Dr. Raffaele Chiulli is also the president of ARISF, the organization of the 35 sports federations recognized by the International Olympic Committee and Vice-President of SportAccord which assembles 104 Olympic and non-Olympic international federations and he occupies important roles in IOC committees.

2012 – Tragedy in Class 1, 12-14 July
Friday, 13 July, Libreville (Gabon). Officials of the UIM are deeply shocked and saddened to announce the tragic news of the death of pilot William Nocker from England following a racing accident during race one of the Gabon Grand Prix, round 2 of the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship. Co-pilot Kurt Olsen from Norway remains in a critical condition in intensive care.

Dr. Raffaele Chiulli re-elected president of the UIM
Raffaele Chiulli has been re-elected with a clear majority in the first round of voting as President of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the International Powerboating Federation and world governing body for all Powerboating activities, at the 84th annual General Assembly staged at the astonishing Yas Island – Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Andrea Dini appointed as new UIM Secretary General
Andrea Dini has been appointed as UIM Secretary General with immediate effect. His candidature for this important role within the International Powerboating Federation was proposed by the UIM Executive Committee to the UIM Council which unanimously accepted his appointment at the last UIM Council meeting held in Monaco soon after the annual Awards Giving Gala. Andrea will replace Mrs. Régine Vandekerckhove who led the UIM Monaco office since 1992 and whom should be thanked for her long standing and appreciated service to the UIM. (more…)
International Motor Sport Federations join forces
An important meeting among the leading International Motorsport Federations has been held in Barcelona during the MotoGP. FIM (Motorcycle), which hosted the meeting, FAI (Aeronautic), FIA (Automobile) and UIM (Powerboating) have met again with their Joint International Motorsport Working Group and the attendance of the International Olympic Committee.

A tribute to Mauro Ravenna
The international powerboating family is mourning the tragic loss of one of its most prominent and legendary members, Mauro Ravenna. On May 27th, 2010 Mauro Ravenna passed away at Havana. He was there after having successfully organized the UIM’s Aquabike World Championships at Guadalupe. (more…)
