Malta 2011 Ocean Grand Prix race info

Malta 2011 Ocean Grand PrixFirst stop in the 2011 Ocean Grand Prix Powerboat World Championship is the beautiful Mediterranean island Malta. In the past few months International Sea Racing Limited (ISR), a Malta based company, on long term contract with Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) to hold exclusively the rights for the Ocean Grand Prix (OGP) Powerboat World Championships, had to deal with many obstacles. Thanks to their perseverance and diplomatic approach the 2011 season is here.

Thank God for that. Some minor changes were made. One of them is that the two classes will be called Supersport and “Evo” (and no longer Evolution). Powerpole is no more, long live Pole Position. This season there will be 4 race weekends; two of them will have 3 instead of 2 rounds. For the teams the new season brought also important challenges. Finder sponsorship is a big one. The 2010 World Champions in evo class Metamarine won’t be defending their precious title in 2011. It came as a big surprise for all of us. We neither see OSG competing and in Supersport only 3 teams remain. Times are tough but every 2011 competitor is convinced that the World Championship must continue. We wish all the powerboating teams a safe and great World Championship! So, now we give you the time table and parcours and hope to meet you in Malta!

Event Schedule*
This time table is for the 1st and 2nd rounds of the UIM World Championship 2011 Powerboat Endurance Racing for Evo and SuperSport class boats, also named the 2011 World Championship OGP.
