Sunday, 7 September, IBIZA: Victory and Chaudron produced the stand-out performances of the afternoon and dominated race 2 of the Mediterranean Grand Prix, cruising to emphatic victories in their respective classes in a dramatic race that was red flagged after Abu Dhabi crashed out at the first corner, both Faleh AL Mansoori and Rashed Al Tayer emerging unscathed from the upturned boat. Ibiza 2014: Fendi and Carpitella to miss race 2

LFF10 of Fendi and Carpitella - (c) affaello BastianiSunday, 7 September, IBIZA: Fendi Racing’s number one crew of Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella in LFF10 will not line up for race 2 of the Mediterranean Grand as a result of being unable to source a replacement gearbox in time. Fendi and Carpitella, who posted the equal fastest time in yesterday’s official qualifying with Victory, were lying in second place in race 1 when the gearbox broke, forcing them out and retiring on lap 10. The team’s second boat LFF8-Polimersan will run, with Miles Jennings and Tarek Oktem starting from fourth and looking to improve on yesterday’s fourth placed finish.

Ibiza 2014: Victory wins race 1 – Tommy One wins in V1

2014 Ibiza World Championship - Team Victory - Source: Class OneSaturday, 6 September: Thirteen boats lined for the first race in over two decades to see Class 1 catamarans and V1 monohulls running side-by-side, with Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi carrying on from where they left off and when they last raced together in 2011, cruising to an easy victory in race 1 of the Mediterranean Grand Prix to win by a massive 49 second margin. The Victory duo who earlier in the day shared the pole position spoils with LFF10, led from the start and were never challenged, going on to complete the 13 laps in 35:41.85s. (more…)

2014 Ibiza World Championship - Source: Class OneSaturday, 6 September, IBIZA: For the first time in qualifying in C1 for the coveted Pole Position spot, two outfits posted identical times. LFF10’s Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella and Victory’s Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi could not be separated in this morning’s two hour qualifying session for race 1 of the Mediterranean Grand Prix with both posting a 2:46.45s lap. “This is a big step forward. Ibiza 2014: Pole position being moved to Saturday morning

2014 Ibiza World Chamionship - (c) Raffaello BastianiFriday, 5 September, IBIZA: The first outing of C1 and V1 running together saw the majority that took to the water using today’s two practice sessions to shakedown boats and familiarise themselves with the tandem-circuit, the recorded times of a secondary interest. At an earlier meeting before taking to the water the two sets of driver’s voted for a change to the planned race format which will now see the C1 catamarans taking the turns on the outside course marks, the V1 monohulls the inside. All drivers also called for more time on the water before getting into competitive running, resulting in the pole position being moved to Saturday morning ahead of race 1 in the afternoon.
