The BananaShark team E-Lites have had a very busy winter, not only have they been working very hard on the boat to get ready for the 2012 season and especially the epic Round Britain race in June, but also had to find time to visit the Autosport Show and the two Top Gear live shows in London and Birmingham with the boat as guest of E-Lites electronic cigarettes. Team principal John Cooke also visited the London Boat Show 2012 and did a presentation on the boat and the team in association with sponsors Raymarine who supply the team with the latest multi functional displays. Livorsi GPS Ski Speedometer for your powerboating
Livorsi has developed a new speedometer with the skier and wake boarder in mind. The new GPS Ski speedometer ranges from 0 to 50 MPH with an expanded scale from 10 MPH to 40 MPH. The expanded scale indicates every mile per hour; accuracy is achieved using GPS technology to determine the speed. This gauge is offered in a standard and over sized cutout with a range of colors to suit any style. Waterproof plug-in connectors make this gauge easy to install. The gauge features large bold graphics and is backlit with red LED lighting for easy viewing in low light conditions.

SilverHook: the new 77 Lucas Oil Peters & May race boat
The SilverHook was conceived last September (2010) and has been a global endeavor ever since Michael and Nigel made the decision to build an all-out, 100% race boat. Based upon their previous seasons’ experience with their pleasure-boat-turned-race boat, the duo quickly agreed that Mannerfelt Design Team was the only choice to design their race-only boat. (more…)

Livorsi Marine, Inc. and Custom Marine, Inc. have created a new catalog focusing on products specific to the workboat, industrial and commercial market. This catalog includes Livorsi’s digital CAN Bus gauges- Vantage View(R), analog gauges, electronic throttle and shift controls, Custom Marine’s transom tips and custom exhaust systems. The catalog will make its debut at the 2011 MACC Show in Virginia Beach, Virginia, June 14th 16th.

Het zijn spannende tijden wanneer twee giganten tegen elkaar uitkomen maar het wordt pas echt interessant als ze de handen in elkaar slaan. Op de Miami Boat Show die start op 11 februari 2010 onthullen Cigarette Racing en Mercedes-AMG hun powerboat. Inspiratie zou gezocht zijn in de indrukwekkende 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, 42 voet lang zijn en 120 mph snel. We vermoeden dat Mercury-motoren gebruikt zullen worden.
Genmar Holdings INC. vraagt Chapter 11 aan
“Genmar Holdings, Inc. (Genmar) announced today that it has filed for Chapter 11 reorganization protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Irwin L. Jacobs, Chairman and CEO of Genmar, stated.” Dit kregen we op 1 juni 2009 binnen op onze powerboating redactie. Genmar stelt ongeveer 1 500 mensen te werk en is beter gekend onder een van de 15 bootmerken als Carver, Champion, FinCraft, Four Winns, Glastron, Hydra-Sports, Larson, Marquis, Ranger, Scarab, Seaswirl, Stratos, Triumph, Wellcraft en Windsor Craft.

Wereldrecord voor Fountain Powerboat met Verado
Op 6 juni 2008 heeft een 38 voet Fountain center console sportfishing boot met 3 Mercury Marine 300 pk Verado’s op de plank een nieuw wereldrecord neergezet. De trip was 410 mijl lang. Vertrekpunt was de vuurtoren op Cape Hatteras in North Carolina en de finish lag aan het vrijheidsbeeld in New York City. De boot legde deze afstand af in 6 uur, 10 minuten en 8 seconden. De gemiddelde snelheid bedroeg net geen 65 mph. Het verbruik lag op 0,9 miles per gallon (of 0,9 mijl met net geen 4 liter).

Fountain Powerboats Industries (INC.) gaat Baja powerboats bouwen. Baja Marine Corporation is een onderdeel van de Brunswick groep. De Baja’s die variëren van 19 tot 40 voet zullen voor het model 2009 dus door Fountain geproduceerd worden. Oprichter en CEO Reggie M. Fountain is in zijn nopjes met deze deal/overname: ‘De overeenkomst verenigt de twee marktleiders in het powerboatsegment.” Say no more want zo’n deal kunnen wij alleen maar toejuichen.
