The 2011 Ocean Grand Prix UIM Endurance World Championships will have its first stop in Malta on June 10 to 12. The powerboats are already on their way to this beautiful Mediterranean island. Rumours had it that the all red, white and bleu powerboat number 77 (Lucas Oil Scandinavian Offshore Challenge) would be a brand new concept especially designed to race. This new design was kept hidden and no pictures were to be found. Website OGP online but not yet final
The new website of the Ocean Grand Prix build by Cyberspace Solutions Ltd is online. The menu shows us the calendar but according to the meeting held in Rome on Saturday April 30th 2011, it is not the final one. We rely on that information to provide you also with the final dates but for the moment it seems that the site is not maintained on a short notice. We expect a lot from the pictures and video section although it seems that the structure is yet to be defined. Anyway, we’re glad to see OGP is moving on. We hope we can see the needed information on short term as the first powerboat race in Valletta is already next month.

Further to the UIM statement of December 10, 2010 a Licensing Agreement has been signed with International Sea Racing Ltd regarding the future of the UIM Endurance World and Continental Championships. On January 15, 2011 UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli and the Chairman of International Sea Racing Ltd Mr Pio M. Valletta signed the agreement in Malta in the presence of the Maltese Authorities, headed by the Minister of Sport, the Honourable Clyde Puli. (more…)
