Powerboating got hold of some premium spy pics of Spirit of Belgium’s new powerboat. This Nor-Tech 427 was built in the States around New Year. Amongst the three persons aboard, on the left you see Nils Johnson, designer and co-owner of Nor-Tech. The powerboat is built out of polyester and kevlar and under the hood there are two Mercury 600 engines. (more…)

Wim Capiau vervoegt 2B1 Racing Team
Wim Capiau is de de nieuwe reservepiloot voor het 2B1 Racing team dat in 2010 wil aantreden in de evolution klasse van de Grand Prix of the Sea. In zijn vrije tijd knalt Wim het liefst in zijn Chaudron 33 aangedreven door 2 Mercury’s 600 SCI. Hij is hiermee echter niet aan zijn proefstuk toe want hij heeft jaren gevaren in snelle boten en op waterski’s gestaan. (more…)
2B1 Dinner Party 13 maart 2010
Het nieuwe powerboatseizoen nadert: de eerste races hebben plaats op 16 tot 18 april in Kroatië. 2B1 racing team is al volop met de voorbereidingen bezig. Op zaterdag 13 maart 2010 houden ze een dinner party zodat je met hen én hun Fountain powerboat van dichterbij kunt kennismaken. Het team houdt een premiere voor iedere aanwezige in petto, namelijk de onthulling van de nieuwe grafix op de powerboat. (more…)
Spirit of Belgium teamt met Shelley Jory-Leigh
As well as a new sponsor Shelley has also formed a new team and she takes the driving seat in the Supersport team “Spirit of Belgium” beside throttleman Patrick Huybreghts. Patrick who holds a Guinness World Record for the fastest crossing of The English Channel in 2007, finished his inaugural championship in 2009 in 4th position overall and is hungry for more success in his second Powerboat P1 season. Searex is set on the next powerboat P1 season with its new Falcon 43. Fellow countryman Gino Passchier races in the Powerboat P1 Evolution class for the German Searex team. During the boat show in Hamburg 2009, the team presented the new Falcon 43 of which you’ll find the specs above. This means that they officially engage in the 2010 P1 season. (more…)
2B1 en Siracusa
Proef mee van de 2B1-sfeer in Siracusa. Het was een superweekend in Italië. Op een bepaalde foto zul je glas zien staan met een twee gescheiden vloeistoffen naast een 2B1 cap. In dat glas zat de bron van heel wat ergernis. Je raadt het al: water in de brandstoftanks … met alle gevolgen vandien. 2B1 kon na uren sleutelen toch in elke ronde meedingen op Sicilië en weer podiumplaatsen innemen. Spanning, ontlading, euforie … alles kwam aan bod.
Belgians boosten het P1 Powerboat 2009 season
De laatste rondes van het 2009 P1 Powerboat seizoen hadden plaats in Siracusa (Sicilië, Italië). Je kon de race meevolgen via mijn blog ‘powerboating on the road’. Spirit of Belgium met Huybreghts, Robijn en Sluszny stonden aan de vooravond van deze rondes op een welverdiende derde plaats in het supersport klassement. (more…)
